New Website Action!!

 

Big News.  The Angel website has been restyled by the oh-so-talented Patrick Mullen.  I’m afraid that it has a blog feature so I must bid adieu to WordPress.

Thank you WordPress for your nice themes, and easy to use picture uploaders, thank you for your tags and links and bloggy goodness, thanks for all the fun but now I’m off to sexy website land.  Follow if you will…..

blogging hiatus….

begins now…

I thought I’d have enough time to tell you all about the last two nights in SOUNDCHECK but alas, packing takes FOREVER when you’re bringing kayaks and such to Canada.

So yes, I’m off to Canadia!!  Woo hoo.

If i get a wee second on the internet while I’m over there I’ll fill you in on how wonderful Codes were (brilliant really)  They truly rocked our worlds!

and how lovely Jess and the gorgeous Sweet Jane were…..

but that is for another time.

new Sickboy video so so cool

The second music video I directed for Dublin band Sickboy. There are a few idea behind this video;
two of the band members, Colm and Brian are identical twin brothers – like carbon copies of each other, which got me interested in the idea of copying and reproduction of images. I was also interested in the aesthetic of the home made fliers and self promotional material being produced by local bands, often cracked and torn black and white photocopies showing a picture of the band and a date etc. Also the idea of animating ‘silent’ photocopies of a face smushed up against the glass of a photocopier to make it appear as though they are singing was part of the idea.. So I photocopied colm’s face in a photocopier and got him to move it around as the light from the copier passed his face to create distortions – we made hundreds of photocopies with all the main mouth/facial shapes needed for lip sync. Then I shot them playing on whitescreen, photocopied the frames etc – put the mouth shapes in order and photographed them etc. I think it worked out pretty well in the end…

I’m courting a newfound love for poster design.  Aren’t these 3 beauts?  They are by Jay Ryan, Leia Bell and the Nashville Print Mafia respectively.  Sweet stuff.

But we miss Unarocks.  Apparently she’s in a castle on a mountain in Spain the poor mite.

You’re only massive met head on with Queen Kong for a tune-slinging-hat-wearing-cocktail-slurping affair. Shame about the bloody rain.

In the spirit of Queen Kong (a tenuous link at best) I hit the Asian market for some Japanese sweets.  Green rice gooey messiness, sweets with faces and all sorts of nutty goodness.

Pix to follow.  My digital is broken so I bought a good ole fashioned disposable camera.  I’ll probably get it developed next century (with the NIN photies from london LAST YEAR!!!!)  oops.
